Best Moop Practices (BMP’s)
Before you arrive…..
A. Individual Responsibility
1. bring work gloves to pick up moop
2. bring a basket for your bike to haul moop back to camp
3. don’t bring any clothing that comes apart ie: feather boa
4. file the ends of all metal and PVC piping to avoid spurs, filings, etc.
5. clean and de-barb all hot glue items before packing such items
6. bring a small pouch for moop and metal contains for cig butts even if you
don’t smoke …offer your can to someone who does!
7. remove all packaging from any newly purchased items before packing it.
8. avoid bringing plastic bottles, instead bring a couple of reusable 5 gallon
water containers with spigot and reusable drinking bottles
B. Camp Responsibility
1. bring a 6 inch high cardboard box, lined with plastic trash
bag together with two 6 inch high wooden blocks to create a pipe cutting station
to capture the PVC or Metal cuttings.
2. bring the re bar puller off the trailer for removing all rebar (its moop
too!) and stubborn tent stakes.
3. bring a collaspable camping trash bin with plastic liners
4. most important….anchor with tie downs the above trash bin to the
nearest tent pole…..
5. bring a large 36 inch high cardboard box with plastic trash liner and a
window screen material over the top opening and depressed 12 inches into the
box to act as a food drier and garbage disposal for wet foods…
Once there…….
1. set up tarps and nail to the ground for any work stations.
2. use all the above tools and moop collection devices…put the basket
on your bike, with gloves and plastic trash liner for those big jobs…like
a busted 48 inch black light blub….
3. when the wind comes up….look around for anything that will go flying..
4. refill you drinking bottles instead of using the on time plastic bottles.
5. offer others to refill from your 5 gallon water container with spigot.
6. take the recycling items to the recycling center and crush em..!!
7. double bag all trash liners so that they can be put INSIDE your car, van
or trailer…rather than poorly tied on top and allowed to fly off….
8. after everyone is all packed up on Sunday….join hand and walk the
MOOP LINE…with your gloves on…
