Burning Dream Foreclosure and Mobile Repo Camp
Although
BRC real estate has dropped significantly in the last year...surprisingly,
some Theme Camp playa is actually on the rise in Black Rock City, where lenders
have slashed prices on previously foreclosed properties.
Generally however, in 2008 theme camp values have remained weak. The National
Association of Playa Weasels reported last week that land grabs of previously
occupied camps in August were down about 18% from the already depressed year-earlier
level.
But amazingly land grabs are up sharply in some of the areas hit hardest by
foreclosures and falling weasel traps. Those include: 3:30 – 6:30 streets
(prime rings A – D) and of course, the Esplanade Real Estate, particularly
on the edges at 2:00 and 10:00. Center Camp and the whole 6:00 outer circle
have also remained relatively stable performers this year.
Though Burners remain wary of further drops in playa real estate, the data
from these active Foreclosure areas show that some rich RV campers are trolling
for steals....those burners that are in default on their payments better beware
of their American Dream...
